MAYOR WARREN & TIM TOMPKINS OF THE ROCHESTER POLICE FOUNDATION RECOGNIZE STEFANI LIDESTRI (CO-CEO OF LIDESTRI FOOD AND DRINK)

Rochester, NY: The Rochester Police Foundation (RPF) held a virtual press conference today (05/21/20) hosted by RPF President Tim Tompkins over Zoom to announce a joint program with the Rochester Police Department (RPD) called the “Bleeding Control Initiative” to equip 100% of Rochester’s patrol staff with medical tourniquet kits to help save the lives of both first responders and the citizens of Rochester. Mayor Lovely Warren & Deputy Chief Joseph M. Morabito joined the conference call to express thanks on behalf of the City of Rochester and the RPD for the RPF’s development and funding of the initiative. The conference call was recorded and distributed to media, in addition to being available at rochesterpolicefoundation.org.

The announcement coincides with National Stop The Bleed Day, a national day of awareness for preventable death by blood loss, which is a program overseen by RPF Trustee Dr. Mark Gestring MD FACS of URMC as a member of the American College of Surgeons, who joined the call to describe the life-saving impact the initiative is expected to have upon implementation.

Also recognized by Mayor Warren on the conference call was Stefani LiDestri, Co-CEO of LiDestri Food And Drink, which recently converted two of its production lines to produce Recipe 21 hand sanitizer to assist in the battle against COVID-19, and subsequently donated over 500 gallons to local fire and police departments, ambulance corps, charities, and essential businesses. LiDestri has also donated over 4,000 jars of tomato sauce to Foodlink, Inc. and other local organizations such as the Veterans Outreach Center, much of which was used for emergency food boxes to thousands of families in need of food during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally recognized by Mayor Warren was RPF Trustee and area business leader Aaron C. Newman (founder at BlocWatch, CloudCheckr, and ScaleFLX), who was presented with a Certificate of Special Mayoral Recognition for his donation of 10,000 FDA-approved masks to Rochester police and fire departments, as well as the Department of Environmental Services.
