After an attack on his home village of Toltus, Cress Albane is captured by the villain Mars and has his father's pendant stolen from him. The pendant is used to resurrect the Demon King Dhaos, and in an effort to stop his rampage, Cress and another captive Mint Adenade are sent back in time to gather the magical prowess needed to stop Dhaos.
