Golfers struggling with short pitch shots around the green tend to be using the leading edge of the golf club, by driving the handle towards the target. This method can work, producing a lower ball flight and more distance but gives no magic of error for strike.

The reality is, good pitchers are often striking the ground slightly before the ball but by using the bounce (sole) of the wedge the club simply skims as designed. The result will be higher shots, softer landing for more control and a much larger magic of error with the strike.
