Eagle – The Movie – Part 3

Take a look inside a Golden Eagle and the Galley that the “Stewardess” worked out of. They only had cold beverages, coffee, and light snacks, but it is more than you get nowadays on a bus.
In 1974, the High Lightning bolts went away.

The M12 Eagle, was a Suburban bus like mine, with the single rear axle, but was not very popular.
Some Eagle buses came with no Lavatory in the rear. That bus did not sell well in the U.S. for obvious reasons.

The 40’ M15 Eagle had two entrance doors, one in the front and one in the middle. It could be loaded much quicker, but the Dept of Transportation made them seal up the rear door by and by.

The Hockey Stick paint scheme, designed by Holiday Inn, replaced the Lightning Bolt design. This is when Continental Trailways became simply, Trailways.

In 1974, Eagle International was established in Brownsville, Texas. All Trailways Eagles would from then on, be born in the U.S.

In 1975 the first Eagle 05 emerged from the Brownsville, Texas facility.

The Golden Eagle would die and the last Silver was made in 1976 in Brownsville, but they built them one more year in Belgium.

Holiday Inn, made a bunch of specialty Eagle V.I.P. cars.

The Eagle 01s were being converted into Combo Buses. Half Freighter, half passenger bus.

The Eagle 05s were then being rebuilt in Brownsville from the ground up for 60% of the cost of buying a new bus.

The MCI MC-8 and MC-9 buses were stiff competition for Eagle so the Eagle 10 was born, which were 99% Eagle 05s but modernized with a new front cap and upgraded passenger windows and remove the rear passenger window.

Package Express buses “Brucks”, were built out of the 05 buses as this brought in new revenue in the southern states.

Entertainers started buying Eagle buses, starting with the 05 but more so with the modernized model 10.
