The Problem With Modern Legacy Characters

I, Typoh, talk about legacy characters, old staples of our childhood brought back into the modern day either as the living breathing personifications of what they were when we first saw them as kids, like No Way Home or Top Gun Maverick. Or more popularly in recent times, they come back from the grave as bitter, angry old men waiting for death or completely different from the character they were: Luke Skywalker, Boba Fett, Sarah Conner, Kratos, etc

Why is this the case? What about nowadays have this be a prevalent trend? Why does this happen, do studios want to destroy our nostalgia and childhood heroes?
