Gibson Blueshawk Pickup Swap - Original Blues 90 vs TV Jones T90

The Blues 90 pickups are among the least loved of all Gibson pickups ever made. I honestly have always found them workable, but pretty uninspiring. That has always made this guitar one that sees little play time, despite having great action and feel.

In this video I compare the orignal Gibson Blues 90 pickups against TV Jones T90 pickups. I was able to figure out how to wire the T90s into the origianl Gibson circuit so that the hum canceling coil is maintained.

The recording set up is exactly the same for before and after the swap with the following signal chain: Blueshawk direct into amp (Ampeg R50 for clean and Friedman BE-100 for distortion) -- ENGL E212 cab with Celestion V30 speakers -- Shure SM57 -- Lewitt Connect6 -- iPhone 12 Pro. Mic placement was unchanged.
