Turkish defense technology company Meteksan unveiled their NAZAR Directional Infrared Counter Measures or DIRCM in this year’s IDEF exhibition.
The laser electronic warfare system known as Nazar will protect their systems against missiles with electro-optical and infrared seeker heads. NAZAR DIRCM, the project of which started with the contract signed between SSB and METEKSAN in 2016, is a domestic laser electronic warfare system that aims to protect the system or systems it is connected to from threats such as enemy cruise missiles with Electro-Optical optical seekers or infrared IR and IIR seekers.

Nazar can detect missiles and other systems belonging to the enemy with its warning receiver, and aims to neutralize the enemy's seeker head by aiming its laser at the target. Nazar laser electronic warfare system, which has a range of approximately twice the range of the systems in the inventory, stands out as a low-cost solution for neutralizing missiles. At this point, the first stage of Nazar, the land-based variant, has been completed. METEKSAN continues to work on Nazar DIRCM, which will be of critical importance especially against anti-ship missiles. Nazar DIRCM, which is planned to start acceptance tests in the coming months, is expected to enter the inventory by the end of the year.
