Couplet:

ਬਲੁ ਛੁਟਕਿਓ ਬੰਧਨ ਪਰੇ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਤ ਉਪਾਇ ॥
bal chhuttkio bandan pare kachhoo na hot upaae |
My strength is exhausted, and I am in bondage; I cannot do anything at all.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਬ ਓਟ ਹਰਿ ਗਜ ਜਿਉ ਹੋਹੁ ਸਹਾਇ ॥੫੩॥
kahu naanak ab ott har gaj jio hohu sahaae |53|
Says Nanak, now, Vaheguru is my Support; He will help me, as He did the elephant.

ਬਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਬੰਧਨ ਛੁਟੇ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਤ ਉਪਾਇ ॥

My strength has been restored, and my bonds have been broken; now, I can do everything.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੁਮਰੈ ਹਾਥ ਮੈ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਹੋਤ ਸਹਾਇ ॥੫੪॥
naanak sabh kichh tumrai haath mai tum hee hot sahaae |54|
Nanak: everything is in Your hands, Vaheguru; You are my Helper and Support.

Salok Mehalla 9 is a collection of stanzas written by Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji (Ninth Sikh Guru) and is well known to be hard hitting, a wake up call and sheds some reality on life. Many Gursikhs (Sikhs of the Guru) recite this Bani (prayer) as part of their Nitnem (Daily Sikh Prayers).
