Post-surgery, most of these days, nowadays what we doctors say, we do not put any restrictions about the diet, means in olden days, the mothers used to have too many restrictions, you should not eat this, you should not eat that, but nowadays it has changed totally and we are not putting any restrictions on the postpartum ladies to not eat something, but only thing is, you should, when you eat as a normal lady also, you should know how to eat, means you should not eat too much of high calories, you should not put on weight and you should not eat junks, because you should not, you should prevent yourself from becoming obese, because anytime obesity is a risk factor for any disease. So postpartum period is the time when the chances of becoming obese are higher. The reason for this is that the abdomen is stretched to the full extent during 9 months of pregnancy, and because of the laxity of the abdomen, fat starts accumulating more easily. So I tell the mothers to always be wary of their abdomen; they must come back to their normal physique as early as possible. So you ask your doctor, you can use abdominal binders so that you will be able to exercise, and you start exercising as early as possible after your delivery, whether it is a vaginal delivery or a caesarean delivery. So by doing this, you will prevent unwanted obesity, and obesity is associated with all the problems which can be avoided by doing this. And one more thing is about nutrition, if your nutrition is good, your stamina will be better. So you are already lactating, you have to provide quality milk for your child. So you have to take a good quality diet, which means you have to see consciously what you are having, meaning the amount of proteins you are having, the amount of carbohydrates you are having, amount of fat you are having. So you be wary about your diet and try to take a very healthy diet so that both you and your child will be in a better position.
