She is the daughter of King Paul of Greece and Frederica of Hanover.
She is the wife of Juan Carlos I, the King of Spain from 1975 to 2014.
She is the mother of the King of Spain Felipe VI.
She is the sister of the last King of Greece Constantine II.

Sofia married a Spanish prince without a kingdom.
Juan Carlos was crowned in 1975, after the death of General Franco.These were very disturbing times for Spain, , the change of power and social order.
Sofia believes that she and her husband came up with a new state system - a democratic monarchy.
In 2014, Sophia's husband Juan Carlos abdicated in favor of their son, Philippe.
