Robam Jun Por (Dance of Blessings)

Описание к видео Robam Jun Por (Dance of Blessings)

Robam Jun Por, or “Blessing Dance” is a widely popular dance in Cambodia and Cambodia-America that brings prosperity, blessings, and luck to the land and its people. It’s used to open events like weddings, galas, and to celebrate life’s event, especially during Cambodian New Years. Cambodian classical ballet requires years of strenuous stretching, flexibility, agility, and the ability to balance the spirit and physical. Before this art was made viewable to the public in the 60s, dancers were the core and vessel for communication between the Heaven realms and human beings, being the bridge between the two. A dancer’s core mission is to communicate spiritually, almost in a meditation trance while dancing, and once a dancer, you then lead a spiritual lifestyle that purifies the spirit, physical and mental states.

Morodok Khmer Performing Arts is a dance company that specializes in preserving this art form and to bridge the gap between generations and diaspora of being Cambodian-American. We are based in the heart of Central Valley, Stockton, CA- third Cambodian populated city and home to one of the largest Buddhist Khmer temple. MKPA hopes to be the beacon of hope and light for those who seeks guidance and understandings in the root of being Cambodian descent.
