The Polish police have detained two people, aged 24 and 29, in Bialystok over the weekend. The suspects are both of Polish nationality and accused of interference with train services.

According to RMF radio in Poland, a current police officer is among those accused of hacking into the PKP railway’s communication network on Friday. This resulted in multiple stop signals being triggered and close to 20 trains delayed or at a standstill.

The attack was accomplished by broadcasting a radio-stop command, and only cost the hackers around $30 for the necessary gear. This caused disruption to the train service in the Szczecin region, resulting in extended delays and numerous cancellations.

The reports of the hack also included Russian national anthem renditions and a recording of Russian President Putin's speech. As a major transit route for Western arms shipments to Ukraine, Poland holds a strong support for the country.

Polish officials are of the opinion that the attack was conducted by individuals siding with Russia. They are currently investigating the identity of those involved and have yet to disclose their names.
