Hello Friends,
In this video I have shared some basic types of Fluidomat Coupling which are commonly used in an industry.
A fluid coupling is a mechanical device used to transmit power from one shaft to another using a fluid, usually oil. It is commonly found in automobiles, conveyor systems, and industrial machines where smooth and gradual power transmission is needed.
Basic Parts of a Fluid Coupling:
Pump (Impeller) – connected to the driving shaft (like the engine).
Turbine – connected to the driven shaft (like the gearbox).
Casing/Housing – filled with fluid (usually oil).
How It Works:
When the driving shaft rotates, it spins the impeller.
The impeller throws fluid outward due to centrifugal force.
The moving fluid hits the turbine, causing it to spin.
The turbine then drives the output shaft.
There is no physical contact between the impeller and turbine – power is transferred by the motion of the fluid.

Advantages:
Smooth power transmission.
Protects against overload.
Acts as a shock absorber.
Allows a gradual start (no jerks).

Disadvantages:
Some power loss due to fluid friction (less efficient than direct coupling).
Not ideal for precise speed control.
