Visiting Dracula’s Castle: Bran Castle, Brasov & Bucegi Mountains | TRAVEL Romania

Join us on our travel adventures around Europe! We continue our time in Romania with stops in the town of Busteni to hike above the beautiful Bucegi Mountains, Brasov, and the famous Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle).

We took the cable car from Busteni and hiked along the top of the Bucegi Mountains to the famous Hero's Cross on Caraiman Peak. The hike was absolutely beautiful and felt like we were walking above the clouds!

Our next stop was to the beautiful city of Brasov. Brasov is known for its medieval Saxon walls, the towering Gothic-style Black Church and an array of lively cafes. A visit here won't be complete without a visit to the lovely Council Square and the cobbled old town to take in the colourful baroque buildings.

To break things up, we went on a day trip to hike along the lovely Piatra Craiului Mountains, enjoying views of the Romanian countryside and natural beauty.

Our last stop was to the famous Bran Castle, commonly known as Dracula's Castle for its association with Bram Stocker's classical horror story, Dracula. Bran Castle is a national monument and landmark in Transylvania and is dedicated to displaying art and furniture collected by Queen Marie, as well as hosting an open-air museum showcasing traditional Romanian peasant structures.

If you find yourself travelling around Romania, be sure to stop in Busteni to hike in the Bucegi Mountains, as well as visits to Bran Castle and the Piatra Craiului Mountains (easy day trips from Brasov)!
