Sample expert-level cover letter

Dear Ms Summers,

I am excited to be applying to the British Museum’s Business Analyst role, with its chance to inform digital transformation projects. Whether extending current digital initiatives, such as remote access to researchers, or finding new ways to enhance visitor experience, perhaps through AR, this internal consultancy role is one where I feel excited to bring stakeholders together. There is a parallel to my experience at TFL. I facilitated 7 focus group conversations on customers’ use of technology, writing findings into reports. Moreover, I feel the Business Analyst position at the British Museum will further enhance my organisation and analytical skills.

Organisation skills have been a key part of my success as a business officer at TFL. In overseeing 3 customer experience surveys with over 550 responses – I was able to find synergies with commercial objectives. I ranked customer priorities, alongside commercial priorities, identifying projects that could best serve both. I then made recommendations, accounting for available resources and broader project scheduling. Once the direction was set, I managed schedules with milestones to keep track of progress. My organisation skills resulted in work always being delivered ahead of time and in line with agreed objectives.

Analytical skills were a key part of my university research project. I used geospatial analysis in GIS to appraise sub-ground movement at two sites of historical significance, connected to TFL. I used VBA functionality within Excel to automate result categorisations, then applying regression techniques to aid data-comparison to create 4 graphs. This analysis was used to inform recommendations for action, which I presented to a management team within TFL.

I am excited by the Business Analyst role at the British Museum and I look forward to the opportunity to talk and for us to work together.

Yours sincerely,
Ravindra Jadeja
