The State Allroad vs the Lauf Úthald - which is a better bike for you?

Both are consumer direct, and both punch above their weight for capability and price.

State is based in Arizona. Lauf is based in Iceland. Both brands have their frames made in China.

I spent a week in Arizona at The Cycling House enjoying one of their Mixed Terrain Camps.

Arizona is gorgeous, diverse, and great for testing - in part because some of the roads aren’t great.

The Úthald is Lauf’s first road bike, and features its ‘Smoothie Bar’ and high-flex back end. It starts at $3,600 and this SRAM Force model goes for $4,700.

The State Allroad starts at $900 for an aluminum bike, and this carbon frame with SRAM Apex goes for $3,000.
