A Swiss tourist has described how she passed her son through a window to escape as an out-of-control tram almost collided with her carriage in Lisbon.

Rasha Abdul was travelling in another funicular tram that was almost hit by the falling carriage and says her cable car fell backwards as if it had no brakes moments beforehand.

Her husband jumped from the window and she passed her son to him before the speeding carriage crashed into a wall just metres away from them.
