13 Special Types of Numbers With Strange Names

In this class, we'll meet a bunch of related families of numbers with whimsical names and unique properties. Behind their silly names, they contain a variety of interesting patterns, unsolved mysteries, and a connection to the largest prime numbers ever discovered.

Some of the numbers we will meet here include: abundant numbers, deficient numbers, perfect numbers, semiperfect numbers, multiperfect numbers, quasiperfect numbers, almost perfect numbers, weird numbers, sublime numbers, aspiring numbers, sociable numbers, amicable numbers, untouchable numbers, and more, all of which are interesting families of numbers related to a function called an aliquot sum. In addition to having fun names, these families of numbers have many intriguing properties we'll look at....
