Furthermore, the cigars have been stored in a Boveda acrylic humidor with 69% Boveda packs for a period of three weeks to ensure that they were properly acclimated and ready to be evaluated.

00:54 Cigar Overview
Not much has been divulged about the candela instalment of Rocky Patel's well-known The Edge line. It's a Honduran-made cigar featuring Habana seed double claro wrapper, which is produced by flash curing the tobacco so it keeps its chlorophyll. It's only available as a 6 x 52 box-pressed toro. However, the pox-pressed finish is very slight.

02:17 Prelight
The cigar's wrapper isn't entirely green and has a more matte olive khaki colour. It's also quite coarse to the touch. The roll is consistent with no major soft spots and firm spring. Similarly, it doesn't have an oily sheen. Its aromas consist of straw, double cream, and marzipan. The band is on the foot but it's been moved to the shoulder so there's still some ornamentation while being smoked. The dry draw has excellent airflow. It delivers notes of green tea, custard, and cinnamon.

04:32 1st Third Tasting Notes
Great burn line and solid ash so far. Its flavours are herbaceous with a creamy mouthfeel. It's slightly bitter, which is evocative of birch wood. Bay leaf and dried grass contribute to its overall herbaceous profile.

The second third's burn line is a little wavier. The flavours have evolved but they're not overly complex. It's now reminiscent of caffè latte, bay leaf, and thyme.

06:47 Final Third Tasting Notes
The final third significantly spicier. It reveals notes of nutmeg and coffee grounds. Birch wood, first detected in the first third, has returned. The herbaceous character has more-or-less subsided. The mouthfeel is a little rough and has lost the initial creaminess. In fact, it's quite drying overall. The finish is also a little short.

The draw remains consistent throughout the cigar and keeps a cool temperature that ensures a refreshing smoke. The angle is straight for the most part but it did get wavy during the second third. The ash backbone is quite reasonable but it does plop off on its own after a while.

09:53 Overall Experience
The band is on the foot so it needs removing before smoking. You can remove it and try to place it over the head and onto the final third. However, the candela wrapper is quite fragile so you can easily break it in the process. The band itself has a rustic look, but it does feel a little dated. The box is stylish, though, and has been hand-painted in a green ornate colour. Expect to pay around $7 to $8 per cigar, which seems like a fair price. As for the occasion, it's a casual cigar best enjoyed with a drink and a few friends.

12:00 Pairings
Consider herby dishes like ratatouille, pot au feu beef stew, or even an avocado salad. These will help impart additional creaminess to the mouthfeel and extend its herbaceous qualities. As for drinks, green tea is ideal. Otherwise beer like a pilsner or pale ale would be suitable. Latte Coffee would be another good choice as its creaminess will help balance out the cigar's shortcomings.
