CJI DY Chandrachud Welcomes Brazilian Judge to Supreme Court | CJI Chandrachud, Kapil Sibal

On July 11, Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud extended a warm welcome to Brazilian judge Justice Antonio Herman Benjamin, describing him as a “great friend of India”. Justice Benjamin, who is poised to become the chief justice of the Brazilian Supreme Court later in July, is visiting India. He joined CJI Chandrachud and two other Supreme Court judges on the bench, observing the judicial proceedings with great interest. "Justice Benjamin is a great friend of India," CJI Chandrachud remarked while introducing him to the assembled lawyers and litigants. "He will assume the role of Chief Justice in Brazil on July 22. We are delighted to have him with us." Justice Chandrachud highlighted Justice Benjamin’s accomplishments as a distinguished scholar with significant contributions to environmental protection. During his visit, Justice Benjamin also traveled to Jammu and Kashmir. He is the founder of both the Brazilian Consumer Law and Policy Institute and the Law for a Green Planet Institute.
