In a meeting with industrialists this week the prime Minister Mr. Narsimha Rao sounded a note of caution on foreign investment and foreign technology saying there were limits to which India could absorb them. Mr. Rao who was addressing the 67 session of the federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and industry FICCI called the form of Indian Industry to strike a middle part with regard to both foreign investment and technology as well as environment. In a major go ahead of liberation of the air transport sector the cabinet community on economic affairs allowed foreign equity upto forty percent in the schedule airline these week. The idea behind the forty percent cap is to avoid predatory practices by any foreign operator in the months to come the decision could spur equity tie ups between Lufthansa and Modi lift and Malaysia Airlines and Jet Airways. The country's export growth in 1994 and 1995 is likely to touch seventeen to eighteen in dollar terms this was stated by Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, the Union Minister for commerce in New Delhi.
