Sagar-Runi murder case investigation report postponed 120 times

The court has set September 14 as the date for submitting the investigation report in the murder case of journalist couple Sagar Sarwar and Meherun Runi. The filing of the investigation report in this case has been postponed 120 times.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Minhazur Rahman's court set this date on Monday. The court set a new date as the investigation report was not submitted on that day.

Journalist couple Sagar and Runi were murdered in a rented house in West Rajabazar, Dhaka on February 11, 2012. Their four-and-a-half-year-old son Mahir Sarwar Megh was at home at the time of the incident. Sagar worked for private television channel Maasranga and Runi worked for ATN Bangla. Runi's brother Nausher Alam filed a case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in connection with the murder.

The accused in the case are Rafiqul Islam, Bakul Mia, Masum Mintu, Kamrul Islam alias Arun, Abu Sayeed, two security guards of Sagar-Runi's house, Palash Rudra Pal and Enayet Ahmed, and their 'friend' Tanvir Rahman Khan. Of these, Tanvir and Palash are out on bail. The rest are in jail.
