Описание к видео Binadamu ni Mapambo – Msafiri Zawose (BTS Visuals)

Binadamu ni Mapambo is a song by Msafiri Zawose from the album Dawale Chouya, recorded in 2004.

The title translates loosely to “Human beings are temporary ornaments,” a reflection on the fragility of life and the fleeting nature of human existence on earth.

The album was composed shortly after the death of Msafiri’s father, Dr. Hukwe Ubi Zawose, in 2003. At the time of recording, Msafiri was only 22 years old. The song is part of a series of lamentation pieces created during this period of loss, grief, and remembrance.

Binadamu ni Mapambo follows the musical lineage of his father, styled in traditional Gogo musical philosophy, vocal expression, and rhythm. It is both a personal reflection and a broader meditation on impermanence and humility.

The visuals accompanying this song are behind-the-scenes recordings captured during a cultural music shoot in Manchali, Dodoma, Tanzania. The video shows everyday life, traditional attire, movement, and moments of dance within the Gogo community.

The people featured are members of Kilimo Cultural Group, a traditional cultural group from Manchali, Dodoma, dedicated to preserving and sharing Gogo music, dance, and cultural heritage.

The audio was recorded in a single take in 2004, together with Msafiri’s brother Mzee Ndahani. The sound reflects the mood and limitations of that moment, raw, honest, and unfiltered.

This is the first time Dawale Chouya and its songs are being released online.
