The DeSci Funding Working Group serves as a platform for cross-project dialogue, idea generation, and collaboration within the realm of decentralized science. Our overarching objective is to secure a minimum of 2% of the crypto market cap to propel societal advancement through scientific endeavors. Each call is dedicated to exploring a specific thematic topic, followed by a comprehensive discussion involving all participants.

Our first call of 2024 focused on the necessity of establishing agreed-upon standards for conducting research in DeSci. Soenke Bartling (blockchainforscience.com) introduced the descicommons.org initiative, which aims to create guidelines for defining how DeSci projects operate. This initiative is relevant for DeSci funders, infrastructure creators, as well as scientists.

Joshua Bate (desci.world) further discussed the standard proposal, highlighting a specific DAO-related governance model that DeSci.World has been working on. This model could serve as a bridge between web3-based DeSci projects and the standards proposed by DeSci commons.
