Note: The following text is adapted from the programme note for the première at Mozarteum University on 12 December.

This work is based on piano compositions by Mozart, from which it spins new sonic worlds – listen out, too, for the unexpected quotation from a melody in Clementi’s piano sonatas! The title “B♭yond Mozart” plays on the key of B-flat major (B♭) and the idea of “beyond”, symbolising new horizons that emerge from Mozart’s music. Fragmentary quoted motifs from the original works are interwoven with live electronics to create a sound world in which past and present resonate with one another.

This recording is from the performance on 7 July 2025. As the composer was unable to attend the concert in person, live operation of the electronics was not possible on this occasion. The electronic part was therefore newly prepared as fixed media for this performance.
