Shah’s cousin, Adil Hussain, was killed in the attack, but Shah continued to prioritize the safety of the tourists, even missing his cousin’s funeral to ensure the group’s safe return.

The attack was claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), a group linked to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, and was described as targeting tourists, with some reports suggesting the attackers singled out non-Muslims.
