Sundew Technical Solutions Advisor, Rowan Gregson traveled to Braidwood in NSW recently to catch up With Mike Squires one of our Vespex Accredited Specialists who has a European Wasp Baiting program on public and private land in Braidwood.

Braidwood has been hard hit by European Wasps with barely any part of the town escaping the scavengers over Summer. Restaurants find it difficult to serve food outdoors because of the wasp numbers and a young girl was unfortunate to end up being stung over 200 times when she tripped over a wasp colony.

Both Local individuals and the Council are now taking action to reduce the risk by carrying out baiting with Vespex for Queens right now, and also using Vespex in our bait tunnels to remotely eliminate colonies.


As you will see in the map on the video, Braidwood is almost encircled by creeks, this plays right into the hands of the wasps who have a very large need for water, and the often untended banks of the creeks can offer the perfect place for nests to be built.
