F-Zero AX: Monster Ride is a stripped-down, high-intensity version designed specifically for short sessions and physical immersion.
It was exclusively installed in the Cycraft motion simulator arcade cabinet developed by Simuline, which physically moves the player's seat in sync with the on-screen action. The goal of Monster Ride is not to complete a full Grand Prix series or progress through difficulty tiers. Instead, players are thrown into a single, dramatic race designed to showcase speed, motion, and mostly combat.

One of the most distinctive features of Monster Ride is the inclusion of a “Destroyer Ranking” system. Rather than only tracking lap times or finishing positions, the game prominently displays the number of enemies the player destroys during the race.
The end-of-race screen features a dedicated leaderboard showing kill counts, marked with skull icons next to each score.
This mechanic encourages aggressive driving and combat-focused tactics rather than just racing skill.

You can destroy enemies with a Side Attack pressing a Strafe Paddle while turning the wheel in the desired direction.
A red light flashes around the vehicle when an attack is done, circling clock-wise or counter clock-wise, depending on the chosen direction.
But you can also use a Spin Attack do pressing both Strafe Paddles, while spin attacking, the vehicle becomes somewhat uncontrollable, gaining momentum when steering to the sides. This kind of attack is effective when you're behind a lot of racers; Boosting and then performing this move will clear a path so you can move forward, and it may even score you a kill.

Unlike the base version, Monster Ride does not support license cards or GameCube memory cards. Because of this, all characters and machines are available from the start. There is no save data, customization, or unlock system.
Players simply choose a machine and jump straight into the action. The experience is meant to be quick, intense, and self-contained. This is reflected in the typical session length, which is usually a single course lasting around two to three minutes.

Monster Ride also differs in the way it uses AI and stage structure. The AI is typically more aggressive and focused, and the stages are often locked to specific courses, such as Sonic Oval, rather than rotating through a cup system. Since it is designed to impress in a short amount of time, the game leans heavily on spectacle, speed, and the unique motion experience of the Cycraft cabinet.
