LIVE -Preemie Chats - Pain: the necessary evil in the NICU

Preterm infants in NICU experience at least 14 painful procedures per day on an average. That is a huge number! As understanding about premature infants' physiology improves, it is likely that more investigations/ painful procedures may be added to the list of existing ones to the sickest infants in NICU. Is there a way to decrease these painful experiences? How can families help provide comfort to their infants and participate in decision making with the clinical team?
