Show of hands have you ever had a mid-life or quarter life crisis? Too many hours behind the desk, not enough outside. There is an element of the human spirit that becomes unhealthy when you work to much and don’t play enough. The thing that Robin Williams lost in the movie Hook after years of being away from Never-Never Land and becoming a lawyer. The thing Kevin Spacey lost in the movie American Beauty. There is some element of us as humans that you can atrophy by not making enough time to play. This song is the theme of the album, the theme of the last few years of my life. Let yourself be that kid again. Run through a cornfield. Squirt your friend with the hose. Pop out of your friends sun-roof and scream. Little things like this re-assure you that you aren’t beaten or defeated, you just have to remind yourself that your inner kid is still alive and well. Well this song starts with someone who has worked themselves the point of spiritual exhaustion and his decision to run outside in the middle of a work day and give himself a few minutes of much needed recess.
