Values-Based Decision-Making for Caregivers: How to Negotiate Family Dynamics

Описание к видео Values-Based Decision-Making for Caregivers: How to Negotiate Family Dynamics

Decision-making in families providing care for an older person can be fraught with tensions, often stemming from differing values of family members, as well as old feelings that can re-emerge in a caregiving situation. This webinar will present a model and tools for identifying one’s own values, and those of others, so that decision-making processes can run more smoothly and with greater understanding of the diversity of views in a family. This can be between an older parent and their adult child(ren) providing care and support, or among siblings.

Objectives:

— Identify the factors that can interrupt effective and healthy decision-making in families.
— Present the Hall-Tonna model of values.
— Provide tools for identifying one’s own values, and those of others, so that more conscious conversation and decision-making can occur in caregiving situations.
