ஓதிமலை முருகன் கோவில், கோயம்புத்தூர், Othimalai Murugan Kovil, Coimbatore

A beautiful Five faced murugar with eight hands standing on the top of the hill, with the hill as the base. Amongst all other lord murugan hill temples, this is the highest hill temple. The hill temple is situated in Irumborai village. 48 kms from Coimbatore and 18 kms from Annur.

Privately managed temple. Have to walk approx 2000 steps (stone steps will be 1880) on well laid stone steps. They are extending the steps now. Enough number of rest places are there. Hike will test your stamina as the hill is steep. At least 1 ltr water needs to be taken.
There will be no shops on the way or at the top. Few are there at the bottom. Car parking Rs.20 collected by an old lady. Many monkeys are there while hiking.

The temple is open on all Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays and on Murugar special days like kiruthikai, shasti, etc. Tuesdays and special days will be crowded. Entry to the Hill is allowed till 5pm only. Evening time will be good. But have to descend quickly before darkness, as there are no lights available except at the base.

People around this area seek approval of the Lord with two flowers before starting any new business, house functions, etc. Need to make a wish at home and carry arali flowers and seek approval anytime between 12 noon to 2 pm. it takes 34 minutes to 1 hour to reach the top and 30 to 45 mins to descend.

The full round view from the top of the hill is very nice. Bhavani dam water can be seen from the top. Few small hills can also be seen. At the top, monkeys are there. Understand that deers and wild pigs are there at the base of the hills. Had a positive vibe seeing the Odhimalai aandavar. Visited during May 2023 and again during November 23 and again recently.
