An action packed night from the Manor Ground as Oxford United (then in Division Two) lose against Fulham (then in Division Three, with Ray Lewington as manager). Commentary from a young Jerome Sale!

Oxford had won the away leg with a Martin Foyle goal. They suffer an early blow in this match with an injury to new signing (and captain) Steve Foster. The Oxford defence do not cover themselves in glory in this game!

Oxford extend their aggregate lead on the night with a goal from Paul Simpson. Peter Scott makes it 1-1, before a David Bardsley handball (which would be a straight red card in modern football, not even a booking here!) gives Fulham a penalty - converted by Justin Skinner.

Simpson makes it 2-2 on the night, but Fulham regain the lead through Clive Walker (after some calamitous Oxford defending). A cool finish from John Durnin makes it 3-3.

A second goal for Skinner makes it 4-3 to Fulham, and Scott's second sends them through to the 2nd Round (5-3 on the night, and 5-4 aggregate).
