Modern Classic: Eeyore's Requiem

Описание к видео Modern Classic: Eeyore's Requiem

This one was requested some time ago and I finally got around to shooting it for you guys. This is one of the more obscure Modern Classic Cocktails created by Toby Maloney for the opening menu of the Violet Hour in Chicago around 2010. This is a Negroni variation of sorts, fortified with some extra Italian Bitters and sweetened to an extent by the blanc vermouth. When you look at these ingredients for the first time, they seem not to make sense, but as daring as this cocktail is, they work beautifully. When this drink was instituted it became famous in bartending circles and was then made more famous by it's inclusion in the book Beta Cocktails.

Another grad of the Milk & Honey crew Toby Maloney made a name for himself by being the author of some pretty amazing and out there cocktails. While working at Milk & Honey it is said that he'd take a walk around the city, acquiring ingredients and then building a menu around them on his shift that night. Today not only is he the head guy at Violet Hour, but also the beverage director of Loverboy and Mother's Ruin, both in New York City.
