Inspired by vans similar in size to the Mercedes Sprinter, I set out to build something small, efficient, and practical. The result? A naturally aspirated 1.0L inline-3 cylinder engine producing a humble 66 horsepower.

This tiny powerplant is all about affordability, reliability, and fuel efficiency rather than raw speed. While most would expect a big V6 or turbo diesel under the hood of a large van, I went in the complete opposite direction to see if a modest 1.0L engine could realistically power a van of this size.

Throughout the episode, I’ll walk you through the design process, performance stats, fuel economy, and the overall feasibility of such a small engine in a van meant for daily work and transport.
