Is trick roping bad for your calf roping?

It’s always a big discussion on if trick roping is a no no when it comes to practice time!

Can I be honest with you?
I think it matters more about the intention behind practicing than it does the actual act of trick roping.

8 time world champion Joe Beaver says “don’t mess around when you are roping the dummy”, and I agree! I also agree that intentionally practicing to understand the handle of a loop during trick roping can greatly benefit a roper.
