Ordering Prescription Lenses for Oculus Quest 2 | Part 1 - Oculus Prescription Lenses

Hello internet friend. In this series I'll be taking you through my entire experience of ordering my prescription lenses for Oculus quest 2...or Meta Quest 2, still not sure what to call it haha.

The whole reason I ended up decided to get myself some oculus prescription lenses in the first place is because I've been experiencing really bad eye strain of an evening lately when I sit down to do my Tripp meditation sessions.

Up until making this video it had been 10 years since I last went and got my eyes tested and before you can order your vr prescription lenses you need to go and get a valid prescription from the optometrist.

Hence why this video starts with me in my car just before my eye test appointment haha.

So as soon as I got home from my eye test I was super excited to jump online and order my oculus quest prescription lenses and upon visiting the Meta store, I realised that it's not actually Meta who makes the lenses themselves!

They have a verified parter called FramesDirect whom I guess Meta believe make the best oculus prescription lenses.

However, much to my surprise, I received an email from FramesDirect a few days after placing my order saying that my "prescription was out of range" and that my order had been cancelled.

The email was very vague and did not offer any alternate solutions which frustrated me because a) you'd think that Meta would partner with an eyewear company who has the equipment to produce EVERY type of lens in range... but clearly not lol.

And further to that, when I requested an alternate solution or provider, they said, "sorry, can't help"...

So I got my refund and off I went to try and find an optical company that could actually execute on my oculus lenses prescription.

I typed in all sorts of things into google like "best oculus prescription lenses", "best vr prescription lenses" & "vr prescription lenses quest 2" and then finally I came across a reddit forum that lead me to ‪@vrwave976‬ (https://www.vr-wave.store/).

And these guys were actually able to help in terms of actually creating the lenses.

So in this video, I'm going to show you how I ordered my prescription lenses through VR Wave and in the next episode I'll reveal how the lenses came out and do a proper review of them.

VR Wave may have been able to create the lenses but we won't know if they are any good until we try them so stay tuned!
