The CEO of Colony Ridge is responding after a $68 million settlement was reached between the development and the Texas Attorney General’s Office in coordination with the U.S. Department of Justice.

Attorney General Ken Paxton announced the agreement involving the Liberty County development, located about 70 miles from Beaumont. Under the settlement, at least $20 million will go toward law enforcement efforts, while tens of millions more are earmarked for infrastructure improvements.

As part of the agreement, new residential lot sales will be frozen for three years. Colony Ridge CEO John Harris said in a statement that the settlement allows the company to continue investing in its neighborhoods and supporting families who have purchased property there.

The development has been the subject of multiple investigations and news reports in recent years, drawing statewide attention.
