Vahini, in Sanskrit, means "stream". Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba had written many such 'streams' of thought on several topics like meditation, right action, wisdom, peace, divine love, Hindu scriptures etc.

Bhagavatha Vahini is Baba's retelling of The Srimad Bhagavatam, a Hindu scripture about the divine incarnations of Vishnu, concentrating on the Avatar of Krishna through the story of King Parikshith, grandson of the Pandavas - the heroes of the great epic The Mahabharata.

In words of Sri Kasturi (Swami's Biographer) The Bhagavatha is a Ganga, emerging from the Lord and merging in Him after a long journey through geographic descriptions, historic annals, philosophic disquisitions, hagiological narratives, epistemological enquiries, and after fertilising the vast valleys of human minds with the pure pellucid waters of Krishna episodes.
