Using a fletching jig eliminates the need to line your arrows, and lets you quickly install vanes accurately. Because a right helical is already built into the design of the Griffin vane, you can install the vane straight. For best adhesion and to reduce weight, we recommend using an instant glue such as Blazer Bond. With the “dot and spread” method you can control the amount, and thus the weight, applied to each vane. We identified the average weight of double-sided fletching tape plus cap tape at 1.5 – 2 grains per arrow, while the average weight of glue is 1 grain per arrow.
If you prefer double-sided tape, we recommend Bohning Premium Fletching Tape. You will also need to use cap tape which we do not produce at this time.
In case you have to re-fletch in the field, you can use the clamp insert without a jig. Each pack of Griffin Vanes comes with two clamp inserts.
Like all Bohning vanes, the Griffin Vane is no-prep. We pre-prime the bases of our vanes, so we highly recommend that you NOT clean them as it will remove that primer.
