"Ways of Water" -- Immersive sound art piece by Alexander Baboian (Binaural mix) @ IPEM, Gent

A sonic meditation on the symbiosis between nature and humankind, "Ways of Water" is a timeless, spaceless soundscape designed for reflection and rejuvenation.

Crafted in Ambisonics spatial audio, the listener is immersed in the subtle amplitude of ocean waves, not heard directly but felt through the extraction of their nuanced amplitudes and frequencies by exciting modal drones via a vocoder. Elements of the piece dynamically recombine, generating an ever-evolving collage always provocative though never quite the same.

This piece does not offer answers; instead, it provides a contemplative space for listeners to slow the tempo of their busy lives down and perhaps realign themselves to one of the many voices of the planet.

A unique sonic journey, "Ways of Water" was presented in the ASIL Lab of IPEM, Gent University as partial fulfillment of graduation requirements for the Royal Conservatoire Antwerpen M.A. and was a loving creation of American Guitarist, Composer and Sound Artist Alexander Baboian.
