Terrier Will Pickup PVC And Dowel But Not Dumbbell

Today's question is about a Terrier that has been working on the retrieve for the past two months and has started from the very basic. He will pick up the PVC pipe and the dowel but he won't pick up the Dumbbell. The owner wants to know what she can do to fix the habit and make him pick up the dumbbell.
