A truly alternative winter hike for you!

An amazing and totally remote climb up to the stunning panorama on the top of Pico Torrecilla, 1919m high. The 16.5km hike goes from the Area Recreativa Quejigales up through the totally unspoilt beauty of the Sierra de las Nieves national park. The parking is accessible at the end of an unmade 10km road through the park, just off the A397 Ronda-Marbella road. This is a totally remote hike - no buildings, no signs, no water supply, you need to be prepared.

You will climb just under 900m and descend the same amount. The hike I did has a loop for the first 5km and last 5km, and for the middle part is a "there and back" up to the top of the mountain. The views from the top, as you see in this video are stupendous, truly jaw dropping. Amazing nature, wildlife and the best feeling of peace you can have.

I did this hike in November, and it felt like perfect temperature at around 23c, I got through nearly 2l of water, and I would recommend a minimum of 3l just in case - there are no sources of water en route.. I can imagine in the high months of summer, this hike would be totally stupid to attempt.
