全球有八大候鳥遷徙線，而台灣就位於其中之一的東亞澳遷徙線上。台灣位於西太平洋，每到遷徙季節時，東南亞的候鳥會選擇台灣作為長途飛行的中繼站。台南有許多養殖漁塭、鹽田及濕地，皆是吸引龐大數量的水鳥群棲息的地區。

There are eight migratory flyways in the world. Taiwan is right on the one of the great routes---The EAAF(East Asia-Australasian Flyway)
In the coast of Tainan, there are many fish farms, salt pans and abundant of wetlands which provide a great habitat for wading birds.
