Guide on how to score 5 stars on Frozen Hope in MB5 (Mega Brutal 5) difficulty. Fun fact: this run got Top 5 on Google Play Games, as of the recording of this run.

Things you need:
Arctic Explorer
Prepared Trait (left most option, unlocked by default)

Things that are optional, but will greatly help:
Confidence
Leadership

F2P can get all 3 of the above as long as they clear the campaign. But MB difficulty is locked behind a paywall. Obviously, this strategy will still work for Brutal for F2P.

Objectives:
1: Build Fire Pit
2: Gather 5 Food
3: Gather 3 Fuel
4: Survive 1 Winter
5: Get to 4 Population
6: Gather 20 Fuel in your storage
7: Stabilise Morale at 70%+

The whole strategy of this is to win before the 2nd winter with minimal/no Authority loss. Gathering 20 Fuel will be cheesed by 3x Scavenge Fuel, so do not use Scavenge Fuel for Objective 3.

If you get screwed over by an RNG event like Wild Dogs or zombies attacking too early, just restart. The only part of this strategy that involves skill is knowing when to train the warriors. Too early and you are sabtoaging your momentum, too late and you're dead.

Note that the surviving 1 winter objective can be completed even after the winter has passed. See in the footage that the winter passed first before I unlocked objective 4, but it auto-cleared anyway.

Early-game build-order:
Pause the game before game even starts so that you don't get Authority bleed
Build the fire pit
Get 1x Scavenge Food
Get 1x Build Water
Scout the Wood area, followed by the 3 Farm areas. All 4 of these areas are free to scout, so queue them in that order.

Do not scout any other tiles, for the sake of idiot-proofing the guide. In the footage, I scouted the city, but there is no point to it.

Do not claim any food bubbles until Objective 1 completes, so that you can insta-clear Objective 2.

From here, you should have Objectives 1 and 2 complete. Next:
Claim the 4 areas as they get scouted, it is free and there is no downside.
Get lvl1 Firewood Splitter
Get 1x Scavenge Wood
Rush Technology 2 upgrade and queue 3 Tents at the same time

The idea of the strategy is speed. Objective 5 is the bottleneck in terms of speed, so pre-planning this far ahead is good. By now, you should have cleared Objectives 1-4 already. From here on, just rush Technology 3 and then Population 4, then cheese the Fuel with scavenge and win the game with 5 stars on MB5.

The video was slightly unoptimised. To rush Technology 3 and Population 4, the following is all you need:
3x lvl1 Farms
1x lvl1 Firewood Splitter
1x lvl1 Lumberyard

Upgrading these past these levels is pointless, it is not necessary. Just remember to get 1x Scavenge Wood when the progression bar from 2 Population to 3 is at around 75%. Failing this, get it as soon as possible, as you need to stabilise the Morale.

Remember that Water consumption is actually quite high, higher than I realised. At the end of it, ideally you need minimum 5 water wells.
