Throughout Johns Creek you’ll find a variety of shopping and dining, but the real source of civic pride is its green space and location along the Chattahoochee River. The city boasts over 300 acres of parks and recreation with more being developed. The newest project is the restoration of Old Rogers Bridge, a 107-year-old bridge that crosses the river and joins the cities of Johns Creek and Duluth. Once completed, residents will have a pedestrian pathway allowing them to access activities on both sides of the river.

And, there is a lot to do along the river. Multiple units of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area offer everything from boat launches to picnic areas to hiking trails. On a hot, summer day you might enjoy hopping on an innertube and floating down the river. Or, cast a line from the 13 miles of river front and you just might snag a bass, trout, or catfish. For landlubbers, the Autrey Mill Nature Preserve & Heritage Center is a terrific place to enjoy nature and attend an educational program, class, and camp.

Newtown, Ocee, and Shakerag Parks offer a dizzying array of youth and adult sports leagues, sports courts, athletic fields, jogging paths, picnic pavilions, and an incredible dog park. Newtown also hosts a variety of community events including a concert series, an annual chili cookoff, and movie nights. Fore golf (see what we did there?), you’ll find RiverPines Golf, an 18-hole, par-3 public course; 2 premiere private clubs, The Standard Club and the Atlanta Athletic Club; and, if you prefer to live on the course, choose from St. Ives Country Club, The Country Club of the South, or Rivermont Golf Club.

Niche.com recently ranked Johns Creek as the best place to raise a family in Georgia. HomeSnacks ranked it the second safest city in Georgia and the third best place to live. Homes range from well-appointed townhomes to mid-priced, swim/tennis communities to gated neighborhoods with million-dollar homes. Johns Creek schools are among the most highly acclaimed in the state.
