Business Insurance: Tips for Office Productivity
Productivity is defined as "having the power to produce." Ideally, it is the rate at which employees effectively complete projects efficiently, timely, and with little error. But productivity methods vary widely; what exactly works?

One area that is overlooked is the office itself. We are affected by our environment, whether we are aware of it or not. Careful attention to building features such as temperature, ergonomics, layout, and amenities can boost employee happiness. Thinking beyond the standard layout can boost productivity in your company.

Google's offices, while cool, is the extreme. There are ways to make your business space more appealing (and productive) to employees without blowing the bank.

Basic management. Designate someone to be the liaison between your landlord and the management company. Any issues that arise, from a broken HVAC to basic maintenance issues, will be handled much more efficiently with a single person in charge. And that allows employees to get back to work faster.

Lighting. Ideally, employees should be in spaces with some natural light. Make sure common areas and public spaces have access to natural light if possible.

Flexibility. The same standard cubicle isn't ideal for every worker. A graphic designer or writer would benefit from multiple large computer screens and optimized lighting. A salesperson may need a space where they can interact with clients and give product demonstrations. Human resources might need a more private space where employees can come and discuss issues, financial questions, etc.

Ergonomics. The impact of office chairs, keyboard trays, phone usage, even desk height has been studied extensively. Use the research or an ergonomics consultant when choosing office furniture for you employees, and make sure you take the time to show your employees how to properly adjust everything.

Personality. An office space will reflect your business's personality and culture. Wall colors, mission statements, colorful art, and comfortable common spaces not only boost employees morale but solidifies your company's brand.
