Hypospadias occurs as a birth defect in boys in which the urethra, (the tube that carries urine from the bladder to outside the human body) does not form properly or forms on the underside of the penis or near the scrotum. Hypospadias repair will be surgically performed on a young infant and sometimes may not require an overnight stay. It is a common birth defect but is best performed by an expert urologist who has undergone countless hours of this type of surgical urethral reconstruction.
