Nicholas Bowman-Scargill and David Brailsford join Johnny McElherron for an In The Metal special to introduce the new Fears Garrick timepiece, which breaks cover after three years in the works.

The result of a collaboration between two of the UK's most progressive young watch companies, and an project which began life over a pot of tea in a Costa cafe, earning the working codename 'The Costa Project', the Fears Garrick brings together the distinctive aesthetic and technical signatures of both Nicholas Bowman-Scargill's Fears brand and David Brailsford's Garrick Watch Company.

Conceived as a project which would harmoniously fuse the design codes of both brands and exploit each others strengths, this limited production watch is powered by the Garrick UT-G04 manual winding calibre, which features frosted and bevelled rhodium plated bridges, screwed chatons and free-sprung balance, which is displayed dial-side.

An Old English White dial with a fine matte texture features a power reserve display at two o’clock, and small constant seconds at ten o’clock, with blued steel skeletonised hands, diamond-cut, hand applied numerals and minutes track which are all hallmarks of the Fears Watch Company.

Hotter than a pot of freshly brewed Costa tea, In The Metal take a launch day look at this remarkable piece of contemporary British independent watchmaking, with the two men behind its creation.
