I figured I was overdue for playing this. I was tentative, since it was classic DOOM but different. The music isn't banging Bobby Prince MIDI, but Aubrey Hodges ambience. The cacodemons aren't cute tomatoes but angry meatballs, most of the sounds are different. How will it feel to play?

I should have gotten over myself. All of those concerns were bunk. Midway made a game that plays really well. All of the weapons feel punchy and effective, so even being stuck with the pistol and chainsaw doesn't feel like the end of the world. And for the most part, the level design is great, with satisfying progression. It's incredible to think how much they could pack into a Nintendo 64 cartridge

Sure, there's some things that are irritating, like the spike and fireball turrets. But on the whole, it's a really strong package that I'm grateful ‪@Nightdivestudios‬ were able to bring to modern platforms.
